Zespri 14-Day Challenge : Kiwi Caipiroska

Things have gotten quite interesting between me and the kiwifruit. I’ve been trying out different recipes with kiwifruit. But today’s challenge calls for a drink.

A refreshing drink.

So no smoothie today. But if you want a smoothie recipe, you can refer to my first post, or a bonus smoothie recipe below.

It’s either capiroska or caipiroska 

Actually it’s a cocktail, that’s made with kiwifruit and a few couple other ingredients. This recipe was inspired by spoonforkbacon as I was looking for kiwi drinks. You can say its similar to a mojito as it contains mint and lime as well.

Caipiroska is a form of Caipirinha prepared with vodka instead of the usual cachaça. It is a popular cocktail in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. It is also sometimes known as Caipivodka and Caipirodka. It has grown in popularity in recent years as access to international vodkas continues to diversify in South America.

I love it!!!!

Well cause I’m a mojito person, so this caipiroska to me was really refreshing!! The addition of kiwifruit gives it abit of tartness and natural sweetness. If your kiwifruit is not that sweet, you may wanna add a little more sugar to balance it out.

You can always take the vodka out and add more carbonated water to make it kid friendly. It’s a really good party drink as it’s refreshing especially for Summer!

Kiwi Capiroska

Serves: 1

Ingredients

• ½ green kiwifruit
• 1 tsp sugar
• ½ lime, juiced
• a few mint leaves
• ice (to fill up glass)
• Vodka (to fill up ⅓ glass)
• Carbonated water or tonic water (to fill up till top)

Instructions

1. Dice kiwi. Put in glass.
2. Add sugar, lime juice and give it a stir.
3. Add a couple of mint leaves and top up with ice.
4. Fill with vodka to ⅓ full and then the rest with non-flavoured carbonated water
