Singapore Trip : Singapore Flyer

During the trip to SG like last last last weekend, we had a day planned for us bloggers to visit few of Sg’s tourist spots. During my last few trips to Sg, I don’t travel as extensive as this. We take it easy and walk blindly to wherever was nearest. Singapore Flyer was the first place up on our schedule. It was pretty early, when we reached there, the runners from Nike Human race just finished running. So there were lots of red-shirt-runners. (The Nike shirt was .. red)

The iconic sculpted building stands at 165 m tall. That’s about 42 storeys high up. The diameter of the wheel is 150m and there’re 28 fully air-conditioned and UV-light protected capsules that can carry up to 28 people each. Located at Raffles Avenue, Marina Bay, you get a wide wide WIDE view of probably the entire Singapore cityscape from Changi Airport to Sentosa Island. And perhaps even Malaysia 😉 ??

Foong and Me

While the capsules went pass us, we spotted this Sky Dining set up.

Sinapore Flyer offers sky dining for those who wishes to dine like so high up, and probably advisable for those without motion sickness. The price starts from SGD$ 199.00 ++ per couple which includes a 3-course fine dining menu, but the duration is approx. 1 hour only. I guess it’s enough lah, 2 rotations otherwise one would be dizzy from all the wine and spinning.. @__@

Waiting for our capsule

Can u spot the red-shirt-runners?

The Formula 1 Singapore Night Race route ends at somewhat near the flyer, so I think it’s quite cool to have a bird eye view on the entire race! The harbour in front would be transform to some kinda water sports arena when the IR and Botanical Gardens is up. I think in 2010, SG would be pretty awesome..

does this makes u dizzy ?

Past and Present Singapore Skyline

Present and Future Singapore Skyline.

The way the wheel rotate goes from the past of Sg (like older buildings and towns) to the present, where the metropolitan skyscrapers are at and when it rotates down, u see alot of construction area, the future of SG. I thought the architects were smart to design the wheel in such a way that it tells a story as well, and not just blindly put a giant observation wheel there in the middle of no where.

The wheel takes about 30 mins to complete a cycle so there is quite ample time to take lots of photos or just sit and ….. watch…

Still very early in the AM, so we looked pretty fresh I guess.. Haha
