Singapore Trip : The Daily Scoop

salted ice cream? yeah you bet!

When I knew I was going to Singapore for the Nuffnang Awards, I was excited. Even more exciting was I needed to go to Shermay’s Cooking School to get a book from Keiko Ishida. She was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She studied pastry at Ecole Ritz Escoffier Paris, Ecole Lenotre and Ecole Gastronomique Bellouet Conseil in Paris, France to further pursue her passion and improve her technique and skill in the style of the old French masters.
I have been a fan of Japanese interpretation of French desserts ever since I discovered desserts. It was probably one of the reason I took up this course.

(oh wait, this has nothing to do with the ice cream place I’m going to talk abt)

ANYWAY.. I knew there weren’t any other time that we could end up in Holland Village, so immediately after arriving Changi, I took the MRT to Buono Vista and then took a cab to the place. Walking wasn’t quite an idea and we needed to be quick. Cab seems like the easiest and fastest. At first cab driver was like “I dont know how to go to this place”
I was like… wtf. ….
So HE gave me a street directory book and said “OK u can look for the place in the map then I know how to go…. “

=____= seriously??

OK so I found the place and showed him and he brought me there …

It was at Chip Bee gardens and there was this row of shops with restaurants and cafe.. very pretty. Pantry Magic was RIGHT THERE!!! omg I felt like I just met Brad Pitt or something. I knew I was late, so I quickly went up for JUST the book and went back down to .. catch some ice cream!!!!!!

Menu

The Daily Scoop, as the name suggests, sounds like an ice cream a day keeps the doctor away hahahaha They have more than 40 flavours of iced concoction for those seeking for a variety of taste for the tastebuds. But I don’t think they serve all 40 on the counter, maybe they rotate? And I also just found out as I’m googling their address, that the outlet in Chip Bee Gardens just opened in Sept / Oct 09! How coincidence is that!!

The colours looked pretty natural I thought .. They have a range of fruity ones on 1 side, and another counter was with the more chocolate / heavy ones..

I didn’t exactly know what was happening inside the shop cause I wanted to get ice cream and quickly get back to the hotel to check in. Yeah we were in the shop with luggages.. bahahaha Their eyebrow must have flicked ^^

Foong bought a lemon ice cream which was very refreshing for a weather like that and a hush-rush schedule..

I was being … absent minded I picked the weirdest one. Salty Mr. Brown which I loved it. It was salty but not too harsh on throat, and there were brown sugar bits in the ice cream which I thought was ingenious, to complement one another!

We were happy campers wo hoo!
