Packing for your next Summer holidays!

travel essentialsHi!

I wanted to share about some packing essentials when it comes to beach vacation (or even any vacation during Summer) and how you can save some space on your vanity bags and pack some products that you can use for your skin and your hair! Some of these products are from the Butterfly Project Beauty Box which I received during Christmas. The first post about Shizens lip tattoo and the second was more about using some simple products to create a night look from your day look.

Now according to the liquids for hand luggage rule, each passenger can carry only 3.4-ounce (100 milliliter) bottles or less by volume of liquid in 1-quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag onto a domestic or international flight. All liquid items must be stored inside a plastic bag, which must be placed in a screening bin at check-in. Each passenger is limited to only one transparent resealable plastic bag with a volume no greater than one litre. Bags such as freezer bags (20 cm x 20 cm or 25 cm x 15 cm) sold in most supermarkets are ideal for this purpose.

So for big items such as shampoo, it’s best to pour them out into a smaller container (usually recycled from other hotel shampoo bottles or trial size bottles) and just bring what you need to use instead of a whole bottle for a 4d3n trip. You can also use the shampoo provided by the hotel but usually I will pack my own shampoo because my hair is frizzy and dry, hotel shampoo just cannot make it.

matrix biolage shampoo

So for this, the Matrix Biolage Smoothproof shampoo for frizzy hair would suit be. It smells absolutely divine, very flowery but fresh. Frizzy and unmanageable hair can be difficult to control and style and when you are on holidays, you do not want to spend 1 hour fiddling your hair. What I like about this shampoo is that it:

●Cleanses and controls frizz for manageability and smoothness
●Polishes hair and encapsulates it in a protective shield
●Paraben-free formula is also suitable for color-treated hair
●Amazing camellia smell

I just rely on the gels provided by the hotel as usually, it would not cause any irritation. Hence I pack something else to make up for the space.

When you are going for a summer holidays, (don’t even mention about BEACH, it’s a MUST!) you NEED to bring a sunblock / sunscreen. It is somewhat okay if you don’t apply sunscreen on a daily basis here if you are indoor or in the office most of the time. But usually during holidays, you will walk outdoor lots, checking out attractions and all right ?? So, PROTECT your skin with a high SPF count. I usually will get at least 50 SPF++ and above.

So after you are out and about, and need a little nourishing treatment on your hands, use a cream that is rich and moisturizing. (This could be useful in ALL SEASONS travels) L’Occitane Arlesienne Velvet Hand Cream is their latest edition and what I love about L’Occitane is their hand creams are usually very rich and creamy and it does not leave a sticky feeling after use. If you are rubbing to much sand on your elbow and knee, apply some of the cream after you shower to replenish your skin oils again. It has an invigorating floral smell of bouquet of rose, sweet violet and saffron.

Now for that little extra glow during your holidays, especially beach holidays where you want a healthy glowing tan skin, use a shimmering body oil! Especially on your shoulders and neck line. Nobody wants their skin to look dry and burnt after a little tan, so a body oil is definitley a MUST when it comes to beach vacations for me.

Moving up to your face, bring your favourite cleanse and toner. Be sure to store them in a smaller container if they are bigger than 100ml. If you must, walk onto the counter and get some samples to bring along 😉

If you are walking under the sun (or sun tanning) you skin may sometimes feel burnt, red and maybe hot. What I do is I bring along a aloe vera gel and apply it anywhere and everywhere I feel burn to sooth it. Always21 Aloe Vera Soothing Gel Mist is a life saver here. It is:

  • Hygienic (no double dipping)
  • Refreshing and smells good
  • Multipurpose! Use on your hair too for that beach-waves look.

To further hydrate your skin after a long long day, use a mask. Sheet masks are easier to bring along and it doesn’t require after wash. Nature Republic Snail Solution mask has plenty of serum leftover after using and you are able to (save it for the next day) nourish your skin further by lightly massaging the serum in.

Or if you have more time and are in a cold country, the GlamGlow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment moisturizes, restores, replenishes, and calms the skin. It is a nondrying hydration mask to deliver instant, extreme hydration. New Super Technologies Dewdration™, HydraPack™, GreenEnergy™ & TEAOXI® will leave you with Hydrated Heart Pounding Glowing Skin.

The mask is milky brown (like milk tea) and has a coconut, caramel tropical smell to it. After applying on your skin for 20 minutes, you can wipe it off with a tissue or rinse off. Extra tip for you, if you are in a long haul flight going to US or UK or European countries, applying this while you are in the aircraft gives you a refreshing glow when you arrive. You know how long haul flight can be stressful for your skin.
