Wow, it’s been about 6 months since I went to Krabi. Since it was an all expense paid trip (because I won a contest?) I didn’t go much research at all. I was ready to laze around the beach and do nothing. but of course there were activities planned for the winners, like a cooking class.
We were suppose to do some beach hopping but the waves were rough, and thus, we couldn’t do any beach-bumping.
Luckily, they put us at a not too bad hotel with a good long pool. Mercure Krabi Deevana (also known as Deevana Plaza Krabi) is located in the quieter side of Ao Nang town. It’s close to the beach, but not just right out of the door. The hotel offers a range of amenities and services such as a steam room, gym, and spa center should you need to relax after a long day (or for no reason at all).
Once checked in, we were given keys to our room. Mine was a Deluxe Room with 2 single beds. It would be great if we got the pool-access rooms, which then we could dive right into the pool from the balconies. But nevertheless, since the pool was a long stretch, it was easily accessed from whichever block you are.
Now let’s check out the room!
The room had motifs of wood and pastel blue, making one feel comfortable upon entering and close to nature. The bed and linen was comfortable and I had a very good and deep sleep throughout the 2 nights. The TV had many channels to choose, and you know what, you can even catch a glimpse of it while taking a dump 😛
Don’t worry, there is a roller blind to close up the bathroom should you need some privacy.
Which brings us to the next space, the bathroom. I’m ever so happy to find a rain shower. Since my bathroom has one and I’ve ever been so used to it, it always makes me feel at home whenever I see a rain shower head. Hahaha. However, the shower faucet handle was a bit faulty. So I got the housekeepers to come fix it in no time at all. The housekeepers were efficient and clean.
Each room also have a beach bag filled with 2 beach towels either for the pool or for the beach. I love how thoughtful they are for the guests. The beach bag had some swag colours that made me wanna bring them back! Hahaha, well it could be very handy when buying in the market ? Or course I didn’t !!
How about the food?
The room had a complimentary buffet breakfast running from 7am to 11am. With an array of Asian to Western breakfast selections, we were literally spoiled with food. Thai congee and a wide selection of bread if you wish to load up some carb on your morning. Eggs, Salads, stir fries and yogurt if you wish for a more balanced meal.
The bar had happy hours about 4pm-6pm. Since we didn’t get to do any island hopping due to rough waves, we came back to the hotel for a swim. Mango Margarita to toast for a beautiful stay.
I was quite happy with Mercure Krabi Deevana even though it needed 15 minutes walk to Ao Nang beach. It is slightly more secluded, or rather quiet so if you’re looking for some peace at night, this may be a right choice.
I had a 3D2N stay in June 2014.
