I just made this easy lip scrub last week and boy oh boy!! it was so easy that I couldn’t believe.
All you need are sugar, coconut oil / grapeseed oil and any flavouring you want! In this case, I had some lemons in the fridge (I think lemons are staple in my kitchen, it’s so versatile that it can be made in drinks, and even in beauty regimes at home.) and also some rosemary. So yup. That’s kinda it!
Cracked, dry, flaky lips are unattractive and also irritating, and lip scrubs help prevent this, leaving your lips feeling smooth and silky!
Lemon is used commonly to treat darker patches and spots of skin. But did you know you can also use lemon to naturally lighten dark lips. Lemons contain antibacterial properties that help fight break outs and deep clean your skin. Paired with sugar, an all natural exfoliant, lemons are the most multi-purpose items in your kitchen.
As for rosemary, I wanted some colour to the scrub so I chopped some rosemary leaves. Plus, it has natural essential oil that moistures your skin as u are scrubbing away.
Coconut oil is considered very well for chapped lips. The oil can reduce the dryness and can provide the necessary moisture to the lips. The coconut oil also forms a layer around the chapped and dried lips, thus protecting it from cold air (air con!)
So, really I won’t say the exact amount to put in a lip scrub. The basic stuffs are sugar (not granulated, it’s too coarse for the lips), and a type of oil. Here, I added sugar, lemon zest, finely chopped rosemary leaves and lemon juice. Once they are all mixed in, I drizzle in coconut oil to make it into a little concoction so it is spreadable.
While scrubbing, leave it on for a few minutes for the coconut oil to work its magic before washing off! Another win from this DIY scrub is that ….. it’s so yummy!!!
I have also made a Body Scrub.. updates coming soon 🙂
