A week before Chinese New Year, I had a chance to review the new Samsung GALAXY Camera from Edelman. It was on loan for a month before I had to part goodbye. I’ve used it during Chinese New Year, taking cake photos, capturing my dog’s funny moments, and I’ve also asked my brother to use it if he wants to.
Sleek and minimal design… I like!
So, before that, let’s see how many cameras I actually already have. Three…
A compact Canon S90, a DSLR Canon 650D and an iphone 4s. And most of the time, I use my iphone. Not because the photos are any nicer or what, but it just means, transferring photos are a breeze cause it can be uploaded to dropbox, then I can open it in my computer, without using any cables. So when I had the chance to use the Samsung GALAXY Camera, I was kinda happy (cause I KNOW it can be linked / uploaded in an instance)
I haven’t say I have used it to its full potential, just cause I already have a few cameras already, it makes it hard for me to carry another camera around. But I will tell you what I like (and don’t like) about this camera…
1. The screen!!
The GALAXY Camera’s 121.2mm (4.77″) HD Super Clear Touch Display is what a camera display was meant to be, with an ultra sharp 308 pixels per inch and the full spectrum of glorious colours. And with the new White Magic Technology, it can even double the brightness without worrying about battery consumption. Perfect.
Well, I wouldn’t say cloud exactly but the fact that it uploads / backs up instantly, makes it so much easier to view the photos in the computer. I connected the GALAXY camera with an auto back up with Dropbox. Anytime I needed the photo, it’s there in my computer. might as well go all out wireless if we’re talking about it. It’s always connected
With it’s 21x optical zoom with a focal range equivalent to 23-483mm, the GALAXY camera is a bonus to have. Like when I wanna take photos of my dogs sleep or playing, I don’t wanna walk in too near. They would be distracted and come straight up to me. So the zoom, is like a dream! Say, I was standing about 5m away from my dog when I took the photo above… plus, with it’s ACTION FREEZE function, the photos of my dogs playing comes out so much clearer than the compact and phone.
4. Photo and Video wizard
Now because it’s on Android, you can download photo and video editing apps and edit it right away in the camera itself. And upload it to Instagram or any other photo sharing platforms. Well I haven’t edited LOADS of photos in it to give it enough justice, but you get the gist.

Now with all good things, there would be some mishaps / cons. There are a few things which I think can be improved.
1. Weight of the camera. Heavy… yes it’s kinda heavy for its size. thus I don’t really like to carry it out cause I alread
y have like a gazillion things in my bag… But it’s only time where they improve on it.
2. Start up time. It takes a while for the camera to start up actually, compared to other compact size cameras.
Here are some photos I took with the GALAXY camera
Hang on there little pups.. Oh wait, they are 1 years 3 months old already.. are they not pups anymore 🙁

So, thanks to Samsung and Edelman for loaning the camera 🙂 It’s definitely a great camera to use.
