Tuna Waffle

Ah I just remembered, that I actually have a backlogged waffle post. Lol Might as well put it up and make it WAffle week!! hahaha

Every so often, I google stuffs like “belgian waffle” ” fruits waffle” “japanese waffle” and “savoury waffle”. One can have just this much of sweet waffles. So I decided to make them savoury instead. This came around when my mum told me that she saw on t v, people from Taiwan or China are making waffles with tuna, corn and some other savoury stuffs. Ok So I thought I should just make it since I’ve never had a tuna waffle before!

No tartare sauce ? Well, then add some mayo and gherkins.. Why is it that the outer layer is not browned but with spots. Help ? Too eggy ? or not hot enough ? Well anyways.. I found this recipe from this site, who has made alot of waffles too!!

Tuna Waffles

(adapted from Sweets Isa).

1/2 cup (65 g) flour
1 teaspoons baking powder (baking powder)
75g grated cheese (I used grated cheddar)
1 cans of tuna 170g, plain, drained
1 tablespoons finely chopped chives (I used dill instead as I had some) <God knows why I have dill at home :P>
1 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
1 egg
1/8 cup (30g) melted butter
1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard (I used wholegrain mustard)

1 cup (250 ml) milk

1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cheese, tuna, and herbs
Make a well and add egg and mustard.
Whisk in milk to a smooth batter
Add melted butter and mix well until smooth.
Bake in preheated, oiled waffle iron until waffles are golden.
Serve hot or cold with a salad with tartar sauce or tomato.

Nom nom nom. great for tea time snacks!

    Hey very interesting.
For my case, if I oil the mold the outcome will be ‘spotty’.
If I don’t oil it then outcome come out nice brown.
